We told him!!!
Our friend Jeff recently moved out of his host family's home and into his own. He's very happy about the new situation and we're happy for him. So happy, in fact, that we wanted to get him a nice housewarming gift. We thought and thought, and finally, Tom came up with the perfect gift. A chicken. No, not chicken nuggets, or even a frozen chicken, but a real live chicken. Like a pet, except, he might eat it when it gets big enough.
We told him weeks ago of our plan. He didn't believe us.
He invited us out to see his new place and go for a hike in the hills surrounding his village.
We arrived with a small chick inside a gift bag.
We didn't know where to put it. We tried to block it in on the balcony.
It eventually jumped off and ran off into the yard. There are other full-grown chickens in the yard and we were afraid it might be killed by them. His neighbor Bebia (grandmother) has taken charge of the chick now, although I'm sure she has no idea what the silly Americans were doing with one in the first place.
A reminder to ALL of my children, at all times, and forever! I DO NOT want any more pets! EVER!!
Don't consider it.!!!
No more worries about qatmis gripi? ;)
Miss you! Kate
Personally, I think it's awesome, and the little chick is adorable...I wonder if my landlord would let me have a chick...probably not, and I kinda doubt my neighbors would be as nice as Bebia...hmm...
