The New Adventures of Amy and Tom

I really like the Georgian word for Nature. (above) More pictures of the city are coming, but here are some pictures of the areas immediately surrounding Kutaisi. I took these pictures while on a hike with the youth center to 'Motzameta', the church pictured below.

Amy just finished the second of two English Language summer camps today. They were both successful and both featured on the local news here.

Last Friday I spent the night camping in a beautiful National Park. The Peace Corps here helps coordianate ecological conservation youth clubs. These clubs culminate in regional and national camps. I observed one day and night at the national camp and I can't wait to be involved in the project moving forward.

Amy and I are also busy helping organize the current in-country Peace Corps volunteers participation in Georgia's second ever 'Walk for Breast Health Awareness'. The event is sponsored by a number of local and international NGO's and seeks to raise awareness of breast cancer here. If detected early, the 5-year breast cancer survival rate is %97 and mamograms are accessible to women here who seek them. The cause is close to both of us.
