We've undertaken an exhausting survey of Thai transportation and have a conclusion to share. After travel by boat, train (2nd and 3rd class), taxi, moto-dop, tuk tuk, bus, van, motorcycle, motorscooter, horse, elephant, and foot, we are ready to share our preference.
Air.
The flight to Chiang Mai was short. Nough said.
On Cousin David's recomendation, we are staying at the Royal Princess Chiang Mai for a few days. It's world-class, and charges a very hefty $50.00 USD/night. After the hostels and guesthouses we've become acustomed to, the five star treatment is a little hard to take. Ok, not that hard. Amy says she could get used to the silk slippers, and the orchid blossom on her pillow each night. Beats the bare flourescent bulb, cold water only, plastic mattress on concrete floor where we stayed in Chaam - but only in amenities, not in charm or adventure.
More pictures coming soon, we promise. It's hard to find a computer that can talk to our camera for some reason.
Rob, the pop music is pop music, you'd reconginze the cheezy lyrics, themes and simple beats anywhere. The folk music is hard to describe but it's pleasant and not unfamiliar. I will try to bring some back.
Hey guys! You sure are having the experience of a lifetime. I will keep checking back to see what adventures happen next. See you when you come back to boring Ohio!
Hi you two travelers. We wish you good travels and great worldly enjoyment. Its great to be able to do something closest to the heart in ones lifetime. You seem to be having too much fun !
Be safe.
