Cousin David has turned us onto Skype, and we are absolutley hooked.
It's basically really cheap phone via internet.

What I like about it:
1. Setup was as easy as downloading and installing any instant messenger. I needed to buy a cheap microphone for it (got one for $10.00 at Radio Shack), but that was it.
2. The sound quality is great.
3. We call our family at home from Thailand (from our computer to their land line) for .02/minute.
4. From the US - we talked to David in Thailand, as long as we want, for free. (David has skype also, Skype to Skype calls are free)
Here is the best part. We splurged and spent $12.00 on a 'skype in' number. This means, if we are online you can call us from any phone. (It is a local call for our family)
If we aren't around, you can leave us a voicemail, which we can listen to on any computer.
We are really anxious to get our first skype message. Please call us at (440) 499-5472 and see if you can be the first to get us this way.

I'm glad Skype is working great. We will definitely be using that in Colombia. But we should sign up now so we can talk to you :)
