To the Pacific Coast

Wow, sorry it's been a few days. No internet since Monteverde.

Early the morning after we last posted Amy and I got deep into the forest looking for a 'Butterfly Garden'. The trail was steep and difficult, and when we finally found it, it was closed. However, as we headed back to our 4x4 I heard a crashing in the Canopy.

It took a moment to convince Amy it wasn't a squirrel, but then we got a great view. One, two, three, cappucine monkeys. More crashing. Four, Five, Six. Hoots. More Monkeys. We followed them into the forest gasping for the breath that the sight had stolen.

That was just the start of the wildlife we've seen since. We are trying to keep track, but we are loosing the battle. The highlights inlude Howler Monkey's, a Toucan, Crazy Hummingbirds, Leafcutter Ants, and all sorts of Lizard. We haven't even hired an official wildlife guide yet.

Later that same day, we clipped our harnesses to cables and zipped from mountain to mountain at great speed through the canopies. The line would break through the foliage and we were suddenly be looking hundreds of feet down at the treetops complete with birds flying below us.

We took a rope bridge tour also through the canopy and then heading to a volcano on the other side of the National Park.

What a drive. Note to future travelers, a compass doesn't work quite the same this close to the equator. Boy, we could have saved a few hours had that little nugget of info been available before this stretch of the drive.

The Volcan Arenal was extremely cool but the springs we soaked our exhausted bodies in, were very hot! We saw some very cool wildlife, mostly lizards around the hot springs.

Then it was onto the Pacific Coast where we are now. We've arranged things for the wedding on the beach tomorrow at Sunset in Manual Antionio. (Another National Park)

Hopefully, we'll be Whitewater Rafting or Sea Kayaking this afternoon, then taking a long rest in the Hammocks on our rooms patio.

More pictures to come, thank you so much for the comments.
